How Does Optum Rx Home Delivery Work?
Home delivery is a convenient mail-order pharmacy service offered through OptumRx for MESSA members. Using home delivery can improve medication adherence and save time.
Home delivery is a convenient way to receive your prescriptions for regular medications through the mail. Enroll through the Optum Rx website and get your prescriptions shipped right to your door. Most prescriptions are received within 14 days. To expedite your order, ask your doctor to ePrescribe, which is much faster than paper or faxing prescriptions. It’s also a safe and secure option. Optum Rx can’t fill certain prescriptions, including controlled substances such as opioids, so be sure to check with your provider before requesting home delivery for those medications.
OptumRx, part of UnitedHealth Group’s (NYSE: UNH) pharmacy care business, is dedicated to improving people’s access to affordable, high-quality medicines and helping them achieve better health outcomes. Through its full-spectrum of integrated pharmacy care services, OptumRx helps clients and their members navigate the health care system more efficiently to reduce costs and drive greater value. The new Mesa facility is a part of that effort.
How to Log in to Optum Rx?
If you would like to opt out of home delivery, log in to OptumRx using your member ID card or app and select ‘Manage my prescriptions’. From there, you can change your preferred pharmacy and opt out of home delivery. However, if you choose to opt out of home delivery, you will need to pick up your medications at a participating retail pharmacy.
Your prescriptions are filled by the Optum Rx specialty pharmacy based on the drug’s formulary tier (tier one, tier two, or tier three) and the price level set by your plan. Check your drug list to see the cost level of each medication, and talk to your prescriber about lower-cost alternatives.
Optum Rx Services
Optum Rx offers a variety of innovative tools and services that promote value, client transparency, and consumer choice in the pharmacy supply chain. Its PreCheck MyScript tool allows doctors to view pricing during an office visit so they can prescribe the most cost-effective medications for their patients, saving them an average of $111 per script. Its Price Edge solution seamlessly compares available direct-to-consumer pricing for traditional generic drugs with insurance pricing, ensuring that members always pay the lowest possible prescription drug price.
In addition, OptumRx opened a state-of-the-art home delivery pharmacy in Mesa, Arizona, to expand its integrated pharmacy care services capabilities and better support rural and independent pharmacies. It also committed to recruiting local residents for positions at the facility and partnering with organizations like Ability360 and 50Strong to help fill jobs.
The company’s National Compound Credentialing Program also ensures that your compounded medication is the highest quality for your unique needs. MESSA members who use a compounded medication should only fill their prescriptions at a pharmacy that is credentialed with this program.
