You must also provide information about your parent’s income and assets. If you’ve recently married or separated from your spouse, you must also add the new spouse’s income and assets.

Things to Know About the FAFSA 22-23

There are several things you need to know before completing the FAFSA application. For example, you must report the marriage status of your spouse, and you need to report both parents’ information if you are a married same-sex couple. You also need to report your children’s biological and adoptive parents.

FAFSA asks for the student’s income and assets as well as the parent’s income and assets. For married students, you must also provide the income and support of your spouse. You are eligible for this if you were married when you applied for financial aid. Suppose you were married before the 2020 application deadline. In that case, you must provide information about your new spouse, including any assets or income.

Students with Unborn Children

If you have an unborn child, you must count that child as a household member. You must also list yourself as a member of your household, and you must also list your college. Finally, you must obtain your Federal School Code and sign the FAFSA paper.

While the FAFSA application may have changed, the primary data remains unchanged. For instance, students who filed for tax aid in the past should use the tax data from their U.S. returns. The information about investments and other assets will be gathered differently. When reporting your help, you should include their net worth as of the date of your application.
