IRS Notices are generally more detailed and specific than IRS letters. They provide specific instructions on how to respond to the notice, what actions the taxpayer needs to take, and any deadlines involved. The notices are sent by mail to the taxpayer’s last known address or, in some cases, electronically if the taxpayer has opted for electronic communication with the IRS.
