Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment
The Health Insurance Marketplace 2024 coverage will begin on November 1st, 2023 and end on December 15, 2023. Between these dates, you can view, compare and buy a plan. If you miss it, you must qualify for the Special Enrollment Period to get coverage through healthcare.gov or your state’s Marketplace. Learn more about the Special Enrollment Period down below.
Since you cannot enroll for health insurance anytime through the Health Insurance Marketplace, the open enrollment dates are very important. Once the enrollments are open, you can get coverage through healthcare.gov or your state’s Marketplace. Out of all the states, only the following states are not a part of the federal Marketplace. California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
If you live any of the states above, you must use the state Marketplace which you can visit from the links below.

Special Enrollment Period 2024
If you miss the open enrollment dates, you must qualify for the Special Enrollment Period to get coverage. For 2024 coverage, you can get coverage if you qualify for the SEP between December 15, 2023 to the next open enrollment.
To qualify for the SEP, certain life events beyond your control must occur. As a result of these life events, only losing your insurance qualifies you for the SEP. For example, if you got a divorce and kept your insurance, you won’t qualify for the SEP but losing it will.
– Death
Losing someone if your Marketplace plan will qualify you for the Special Enrollment Period.
– Divorce or Legal Separation
If you lost your coverage due to divorcing or having a legal separation, you qualify for the Special Enrollment Period. However, you must get new coverage within 30 days of the event happening. Once you enroll by the end of the month, your coverage will start the first day of the next month.
– Having a child / adopting a child / placing a child in foster care
Any of these events will qualify you for the Special Enrollment Period along with the child.
– Marrying
Got married? You qualify for the Special Enrollment Period. Same as divorce, you must get coverage within thirty days of your marriage.
