AOC Internship

Internships are great ways to get hands-on experience in a professional field. However, they are not always paid. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the internship is worth your while. The Congressional Office of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is looking for passionate interns in her Washington, D.C., and Jackson Heights offices. She is offering two positions this summer.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a Democratic Party politician and activist from New York. She represents the 14th congressional district of New York in the United States House of Representatives. She is known for her progressive politics, community activism, and social media presence. She is also a vocal advocate for the environment and women’s rights. After graduating high school, Alexandria attended Boston University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations while taking on tens of thousands of dollars in student loans. Her father died unexpectedly during her sophomore year, and the medical bills put her family at risk of foreclosure. She worked as a bartender and waitress to help pay the bills, and her experiences left an impact on her political convictions.

As an advocate for a $15 minimum wage, Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be one of the few lawmakers in Washington to pay her interns. Ocasio-Cortez made this known in a tweet on National Intern Day, stating that her office will pay all of its interns at least $15 an hour with benefits. The New York Democrat also promised not to hire full-time staff making less than $52,000 a year.
