9465 Form 2022

Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request is the IRS form used for inquiring for an installment agreement in situations where you can’t pay your tax liability.

However, the 9465 isn’t for every taxpayer that owes tax but can’t pay them. If you owe less than $50,000, you can request an installment agreement online. Before filing Form 9465, consider visiting the IRS Online Payment Agreement. Even if you haven’t received your tax bill yet, you can set up an installment agreement with the Internal Revenue Service online. An installment agreement will enable you to avoid late-payment penalties that increase the total amount paid.

Who should file Form 9465?

If you owe a couple of thousands to the IRS but are unable to meet your liability, don’t bother with Form 9465. Only taxpayers that owe a significant amount in taxes that can’t pay should file it. Unless you owe upwards of $50,000 to the Internal Revenue Service in unpaid taxes, don’t concern yourself with filing Form 9465.

Owe more than $50,000? File Form 9465 from the above and print out a paper copy to mail to the Internal Revenue Service.
