Pennsylvania Form PA-100
The PA-100 form is used by new businesses to register for their initial applicable state tax accounts. Existing businesses may use it to add more state accounts or update information on existing ones.
In Pennsylvania, you must register for state tax accounts if you operate a business with a legal name different from your own. You must also register a fictitious business name, which is sometimes called a DBA, for each trade name you use. Pennsylvania Form PA-100 is used by new businesses to register for their initial applicable state tax accounts. This includes sales tax, business privilege tax, use tax, wholesaler certificates, and public transportation assistance taxes. If your business is exempt from sales tax, you will need to file a Certificate of Exemption Sales Tax.
How to File Pennsylvania Form PA-100?
The PA-100 is available on the Department of Revenue’s website. However, you must use myPATH to access the online form. myPATH is the new system that has replaced many of the Department’s online services. You can also fill out PA-100 by sending a hardcopy to the Department of Revenue. The form must be submitted prior to starting business activities in the state. In addition, the PA-100 must be renewed annually to remain active.
Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive an 8-digit license number called a “License ID” that you must keep on file. Then, you must remit your sales taxes to the state every three months.
If you want to hire employees, you must also register for employer withholding and wage reporting. These accounts are separate from the tax account number for your business, and you must obtain a separate federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Federal Individual Taxpayer Number (TIN).
Using myPATH for Business Registration
Since the Pennsylvania Form PA-100, which was used for business entity registration, is no longer available. It has been replaced by the myPATH online system.
- Visit the myPATH website: [PA Department of Revenue myPATH]
- The myPATH registration service includes registering for all tax types previously covered by the PA-100 form.
- It also offers additional features like registering for corporate net income tax, corporation specialty taxes, and other withholding taxes.
If you have a previously submitted PA-100, your registration information should have been automatically transferred to myPATH. You can access and manage your account details through the myPATH system.
