Florida RT-6 Form
If you're an employer in Florida, you're responsible for paying payroll taxes. The RT-6 form is used to report these payments, but it can be complicated. Here are some tips to help you file your RT-6 report on time.
Florida RT-6 Form is the Employer’s Quarterly Report that Florida employers must file to indicate their quarterly contribution to state reemployment tax. The form requires essential payroll data, including employee SSNs, gross wages paid, excess wages paid, taxable wages, and more. The best way to optimize the filing process is by integrating the form with your business’s accounting software. AMS Payroll software is the perfect solution for this, offering streamlined data management and easy-to-use forms processing tools.
Florida RT-6 Form is required for all Florida-based businesses that pay reemployment taxes. Even if a company’s employees live outside of Florida, the tax will still be owed. If you fail to file the RT-6 on time, you will face steep legal fees and interest payments. Fortunately, you can avoid these penalties by filing your report on time every quarter. You can find the latest information about Florida’s reemployment tax rates in the State’s Tax Information Publications, which are updated semiannually. You can also register for an online account with the State to receive a notification reminder when it’s time to submit your RT-6.
How to File Florida RT-6 Form?
All employers who are required to file an RT-6 must submit the reports electronically. However, some employers are exempt from the requirement to file electronically. The exemption applies to employers who employ 10 or more workers and have quarterly wages of $1,500 or more.
To file an RT-6 electronically:
- Log in to your state’s website and select the Employer’s Quarterly Reports and Wages option.
- Select RT-6 from the State Tax and Wage Forms droplist and mark the e-File checkbox.
- Save the report to a PDF for printing or as a.txt file for e-filing. If you have multiple employers, use the RT-6A, Employer’s Quarterly Report Continuation Sheet, to include information on out-of-state wages paid during the quarter.

The Florida Department of Revenue provides an online filing system to make this process easier for employers. To get started, go to the Florida Department of Revenue website and select the “Employers” option from the drop-down menu. You will then be redirected to the RT-6 electronic filing module.
Once you have selected the RT-6 electronic filing module, select the employer for which you wish to file and click the RT-6 e-Services Upload File button. This will create a file to upload to the e-Services website. The file path and name will be copied to the Windows clipboard, allowing you to easily paste it into the browse window when you upload it.
The RT-6 is a complex form requiring a significant amount of information, including gross, excess, taxable, and employee SSNs. Failure to file this form can result in significant fines and interest payments. To avoid these fees, it is best to file the RT-6 electronically.
